Hanna+Sam Family Portraits - I've got a treat for you

Sometimes doing family photography with young kids can be the most challenging type of shoots. But at the end of the day, it's also some of the most rewarding. Most kids have the attention span of puppies. So your best hopes of getting THE SHOT means you have to put the camera in AI Servo and shoot as if you are shooting the action in a sporting event. This means you will burn through memory cards real fast. I almost filled up two 16GB cards in less than 2 hours.

As a side note, from my conversations with large studios with many contracted photographers. I learned that some places will limit their photographers to 21 shots for any family portrait session!! I'm not sure how they manage to get any good shots in just 21 frames. Kids run around everywhere and their eyes are focused on the camera about 5% of the time.

The reward would be the youthful innocence and expressions a child can give you to make the photo a very memorable one.

Sam and Hanna have your typically American family with 2.5 lovely kids. Watching them control their kids puts a smile on my face because the task of getting a little one to sit pose and smile in the camera is like wrangling cats. =)
